Scale | Grow | Buy | Sell

Starting a business?  Buying a business?  Or dream of selling your business?  I’ve done all three.  Together we’ll build and implement innovative strategies to bring your new business to life, increase revenue, improve profitability and/or prepare for acquisition.

Operations & Profitability

Did I mention I’m an enthusiastic people person who also happens to love spreadsheets?  Seriously, this is my super power.  Let’s dust off those P&Ls and figure out how to make your company run better and profit more. I love identifying KPIs, building tracking systems and then figuring out how to pull levers and drive results.  And what happens when we  build revenue and improve operational efficiencies?  You make more money and have more time for you.

Revenue & Special Projects

Let’s dream big.  How can we grow your business by adding new revenue streams?  Adding programs and product lines brings additional revenue and more flexibility for future growth.  How can we make your business more resilient by diversifying your revenue?  I’m also available to consult on jump starting those pesky projects you know are a good idea, but just can’t seem to get to.

Business & Leadership Coaching

My mom says I’ve been in charge of every group I’ve been in since 2nd grade, so turns out I understand how to motivate and channel others to achieve results.  As a Strategic Advisor, I can help with prioritization and planning your next stage of growth, or just help you figure out how to get out of the weeds.  And I promise we’ll have fun doing it.

What Clients Have to Say

“I’ve been working with Julie for about six months now and I’m so grateful.  She is a wealth of information and resources, and she holds me accountable to the goals we set together.  Julie has also given me great ideas to move my business forward and navigate through this crazy time to be a small business owner.”

– Melissa, Tea Room Owner, Tempe, AZ

“As a new entrepreneur, working with Julie is the best thing I could have done.  My meetings with her have been invaluable!  Great energy.  She offered smart and practical steps and solutions to help me with my business questions and challenges.  Thank you!”

– LaShuan, Boutique Owner, Milwaukee, WI

“Julie brought an amazing amount of knowledge, insight, and energy into our training sessions.  Her workshop really fit our needs and her outgoing personality and sense of humor ensured our team had fun.  We look forward to having her back again”.

– Milly, Child Care Center President, Charlotte, NC

“My husband and I were thinking of buying wine bar and Julie was instrumental in helping me comb through the financials from the previous owner.  I had no idea what to look for and what questions to ask to verify the business’s profitability.  Julie helped me look at variables like payroll, lease terms and equipment, and on a more personal basis, she helped me ask questions of myself and consider if the purchase was a good fit for me.  I appreciated her knowledge and experience, and also how personal she was.   I felt she really cared about helping me make the right decision.   I did not end up buying the wine bar and found out later that the lease was a disaster.   I am very thankful to Julie for her expertise and very much enjoyed working with her.”

– Andrea, Wine Shop Manager, Seattle, WA

We have worked with Julie for over two years and during that time she has consistently delivered value to our business. Her knowledge and expertise have had a major impact here. We have seen both revenue increases and bottom line improvement year over year. More importantly she has helped us define our culture, values and operations. I would highly recommend Julie to any business that is in need of help or just wants to improve and grow. Thank you Julie!!!

– Jordan, Director of Operations, Oakland, CA

I recently participated in an amazing retreat/workshop facilitated by Julie. Our non-profit group of management & volunteers were effectively guided through a review and planning process for an ambitious project with humor, insight, and verve. I’ve sat through many corporate programs, but none that elicited the enthusiasm and results as this one by Waterline Coaching. Highly recommend.

– Jan, Marketing Director, Alameda, CA

Spending a few hours with Julie was a terrific investment in my business and in myself. Julie is open, responsive, detailed and grounded. I felt she was understanding me and my ideas within the first ten minutes of our first meeting. Her advice was practical and honest and helped me navigate my way to a sensible, yet still exciting, way to start a business. I especially valued her follow up emails that included action steps for me to take until our next meeting. Despite the fact that we are on opposite sides of the country, I felt like I have gained a trusted advisor who can span the distance and work around the differences in our regions. While we focused on the logistics and financials of opening a business, Julie was sensitive to my feelings and self-care. The experience felt holistic and I look forward to working with Julie more as I start my new adventure.

I help enthusiastic entrepreneurs get their ideas off the ground and hard-working small business owners make their businesses more profitable and have more fun while doing it.  As a leader at a large retailer, and then as the owner of a small chain of child care centers with six locations and over 200 employees, I learned what it takes to run a profitable small business.  I had to do it all, just like you – marketing, branding, human resources, finance, payroll, operations, social media, leadership, technology and customer service. . . and fix the overflowing toilet occasionally too.

I’d love to talk about how I can help your small business.
